I wanted to let everyone know that I will have my rootielicious jewelry for sale this coming Friday, December 3rd, from 12 – 8pm at the Kirkman House Museum. They are hosting a Christmas Bazaar featuring locally produced artisan fabric and wool creations, jewelry, baked goods, and art, and I am very excited to be a part of it. I’ve been a busy one, having fun creating some festive pieces for the holidays and for every day. Come get something special for someone on your Christmas list, or pick up something special for yourself. Because we all need some bling in our lives, right?! ;)

Out past the airport, close to many wine tasting rooms, we’ve got a collection of jewelry, wood works, vintage furniture and findings, pottery, art, and tasty treats. December 4 and 5, from 10-4, come by and say hello!
I like to pride myself on never getting sick, but who am I kidding? If there’s a bug going around, I’m just as likely as the next person to catch it. So I shouldn’t have been so surprised when I came down with a cold this week. And can I just say, I absolutely love having a job that promotes health, and caring for oneself, as opposed to cracking the whip over my exhaustion-strained back, yelling at me to get back to work. So, the cold season indulgences, you ask? Well, having to option to stay home from work and cuddle my cute, adorable, amazingly perfect buddy, Hank Williams III…. a.k.a. my dog! And tonight I am enjoying a great new recipe found on the internet-google-machine for some delicious Hot Rum Toddy, thanks to RecipeZaar.com. It’s also fall in full swing tonight, with a chance of freezing, so I’m excited to be extra cozy tonight. And a happy weekend to all!
Recipe for Uncle Bill’s Hot Rum Toddy:
SERVES 1 (change servings and units)
3 ounces dark rum (or to suit taste)
4 tablespoons liquid honey
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

To a large heavy duty cup or glass, add rum, honey, lemon juice, 1/2 lemon rind, and nutmeg. Stand cinnamon stick in the cup.
Pour the boiling water and stir well to blend.
Adjust honey to suit your sweetness and adjust lemon juice to suit your taste.

So I suppose this serves as an introduction of sorts. I’ve now got a website for rootielicious and the bling that accompanies me. What does rootielicious stand for? What does it mean? Why does bling go along with it? These are all very good questions. Rootielicious is a nickname derived from my last name, Rootvik. My boyfriend, having a natural tendency to give nicknames to any and all individuals, came up with the nickname rootielicious for me. And it stuck.
I’ve been making jewelry on my own for a few years. It started as a hobby in college and was a great way to provide myself and my friends with some fun, unique jewelry styles. I started selling a little, here and there, and the more I explored my creative side, the more inspired and possibly addicted I became. Pretty soon I couldn’t wait to get home from work, grab a quick bite to eat, and sit down with my ‘toys’ and see where my creativity would take me. As with any passion, the more I fueled it, the more it grew. Pretty soon I needed a name for my jewelry line, and rootielicious seemed to fit. Rootielicious was born… and then there was bling. Because bling is natural.
I hope you enjoy the website. I’m quite new at this, so have patience and check back often. There will soon be photos, updates, more stories, and lots of rootielicious bling.
Sometimes I just can’t contain myself!
How has this gone live so quickly? I wasn’t expecting…
There are some things that can only be said without words.
